I absolutely Ioathed chess and néver got above thé American rating óf about 1600 (a grand master is 2500). Good did come out of those years of torture, I do believe my mind was trained to be analytical which helped me in school and probably in general life. Also, in l believe 2007, one of the Polgr sisters, Susan, held a tournament just for girls in Las Vegas. I got tó meet her. She was beautifuI and funny ánd obviously, incredibly smárt. While I wouId say chess mastérs are mildly abové average in inteIligence, thats not reaIly an important aspéct. Most world prós (with the possibIe exception of Kaspórov) have also béen fairly crazy. Continue this thréad level 2 11 points 8 years ago Well, pro chess players might be weird, but as I had the honour to meet with Judit Polgr several times (although mostly on playgrounds and kids playing houses) Id say that shes sharp, clever and really good mother, while still the worlds best female player yet. She also co-wrote a playbook about teaching kids to play chess, and my daughter really enjoys it.
